i just checked my summer school schedule....turns out i have class from something like 8-2 on monday and wednesday....craziness, i say. i used to have class one semester from 8 to 11, but that's nothing comparatively....and i was still young then. ;)
back in the unbearable heat of florida...i wonder how i survived all these yrs here....i must have done what i do nowadays....never go out of the well-air-conditioned house. :D i think i want to think of all the ppl that i want to send cards and write emails to....and ACTUALLY do it! (as opposed to yrs past, where i just sat on my lazy butt and refused to think) perhaps this yr will turn out the same, but by God's grace, hopefully not. :)
I was reading through the book of Habakkuk again after the sermons i heard on them...at first, the prophet was doubting God plans for Israel and justice being served...but at the end of the book he becomes so encouraged and awed by the God's answers and righteousness that he flows in praise and conviction. i think that i often start out like the prophet, but rarely ends up in the same direction....i doubt often, and praise rarely. Conviction and reliance on God rarely flows without a grand and un of God's sovereign plans, His holiness, and His love for us. Perhaps it is time that i not dwell on what my duties are and what i should be doing, but look to God for the purpose and direction that will come when I fix upon Him. This is especially important at home cuz there's almost no motivation to do anything that requires effort and thought. And so, the challenge for me is to be disciplined and sharp through times when doubt can creep in unnoticed.
"How long, O LORD, will I call for help, And You will not hear?
I cry out to You, "Violence!" Yet You do not save.
Why do You make me see iniquity, And cause me to look on wickedness?
Yes, destruction and violence are before me; Strife exists and contention arises.
Therefore the law is ignored And justice is never upheld.
For the wicked surround the righteous;
Therefore justice comes out perverted. " --Hab 1:2-4
"His radiance is like the sunlight;
He has rays flashing from His hand,
And there is the hiding of His power.
Before Him goes pestilence,
And plague comes after Him.
He stood and surveyed the earth;
He looked and startled the nations.
Yes, the perpetual mountains were shattered,
The ancient hills collapsed.
His ways are everlasting." --Hab 3:4-6
"Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.
The Lord GOD is my strength,
And He has made my feet like hinds' feet,
And makes me walk on my high places." --Hab 3:17-19

10) read my Bible!
All in all, a good day. =)
In my ethics class, we hafta examine technological driven ethical issues through different ethical theories as well as religious considerations. A lot of the ppl tend to lump Judaism, Islam, and Christianity in the same general category....just because supposedly all three have the same foundations. That just reminds me of Tony's sermon this past Sunday on Abraham and Romans. If a person believes in the God of Abraham and does not believe in the further promises and revelations that God has given to mankind, then the god that that person believes is not the true God. The righteousness of God is only imputed to us when we have faith in not only what Abraham had faith in, but also in the actual life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Also romans 4:23-24 sez: "not for his sake only was it written that it was credited to him, but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead..." wow, how cool is dat...that God from the beginning had Abraham's story recorded, not only as a testimony for Abraham...but so that Paul can use it to defend the gospel....so that you and i and anyone who read it can have the assurance of the righteousness of God credited to us by faith only!
